All thanks to mold, students of St.Mary’s College in Maryland got to live in a cruise ship. However, before their taste of luxury, sickness came to them first.

According to Washington Post, about 250 students living in two of St. Mary’s dormitories were sickened by mold after classes started. When inspection was conducted, it was found out that the ventilation systems of the buildings were leaking. Thus, mold grew in and every part of them.

But because the nearest hotel is 30-45 minutes drive away from the campus, they got to find an alternative. After officials at Salish Kootenai College received the mold inspection result for the campus, it was confirmed that 22 of their student housngs and 7 of their other buildings were mold-infested.

Student Housing in Salish Kootenai College Infested with Mold is a post from: mold removal

Resident animals of the Bloomingdale Animal Center will temporarily be living now at the Department of Public Works. Mold from Hurricane Irene developed in the quarantine building.

A special meeting on Tuesday was held and the Bloomingdale Council agreed to pay the animal shelter $2500 to continue its operation. An emergency mold clean up is expected to be declared by the council for the next meeting.

The Bloomingdale Council is expected to declare an emergency cleanup of the Bloomingdale Animal Shelter during its regular meeting Tuesday night.

At the last council meeting on Sept. 13, Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society (BASS) President Ellen Ribitzki told the council that the health department had advised her that employees and animals should not be in the quarantine building due to mold resulting from flooding after Hurricane Irene. Borough Administrator Ted Ehrenburg confirmed the mold issue and said the animals were temporarily re-located at the Department of Public Works (DPW) building.

During a special meeting last Tuesday, the council agreed to pay BASS $2,500 so that BASS could continue operating the shelter for the next month. The council is working to award a contract for animal shelter services through competitive contracting.

The District Attorney’s Office in Orange County is located in the basement of the Government Center. It was shut down last Thursday due to mold problems.

GOSHEN — With the Orange County Government Center closed, the district attorney’s office is relocating to satellite sites in Middletown and the City of Newburgh, and, on Tuesday, grand jury operations will move to the county’s E-911 Center on Wells Farm Road until further notice.

“We have mold,” District Attorney Frank Phillips confirmed Friday, adding, with typical caginess, “in some locations, there’s more than others.”

There is some mold in vents, in the carpets, in books in the office’s law library. One of the lawyers in the office found mold in a file.

Office employees spent Friday vacating the place; Phillips said they were notified at 2 p.m. Thursday the building would be shut down at 3 p.m.
