Here are some natural alternatives to store-bought mold cleaners that you can try.

Soap – The oldest and most trusted way to clean mold naturally is to use soap. Soap works just fine for most minor infestations, and can be used to clean up black mold. Just scrub and wipe, and make sure you keep the moldy area wet while you’re cleaning.

Vinegar – One of the oldest natural mold cleaners is white vinegar. Soak a sponge in white vinegar and scrub the trouble area. You’ll see the mold come right off. After you’re done, you can either rinse with water, or spray the area with a mixture of vinegar and water. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant, so you can leave it on surfaces and it will prevent mold build-up.

Tea Tree Oil – This effective mold cleaner is available at most health food stores. Mix about two teaspoons of tea tree oil with two cups of water, and put the solution into a spray bottle. After spraying, don’t rinse it off. Leave it on and it will keep mold from coming back.

Baking Soda – Baking soda paste, made with baking soda, water and vinegar, is effective in cleaning mold from tiles. Just scrub with a toothbrush and let it sit for about 20 minutes, then rinse.

You can also use baking soda for moldy books or papers. Dust each page and then put them in a plastic bag, and leave in the sun for a few hours. Afterwards, wipe them off. They should no longer smell musty. If they do, try it again.
